THE HAND OF BORGUS WEEMS
Composed by Oliver Nelson
A close cousin to his music for "The Boy Who Predicted Earthquakes" is
Oliver Nelson's main theme for "The Hand of Borgus Weems," about a man who
finds his right hand possessed by another. Heightening the alien-possession
concept, Nelson made much use of electonic burps and bleeps -- effects which
anchor this score permanently in the early '70s age of experimentation (refer
also to scores written for The Andromeda Strain [Gil Mellé], Logan's Run and
The Reincarnation of Peter Proud [Jerry Goldsmith]).
Again, this music was reused quite often on Night Gallery, winding up in
such tracked scores as "A Fear of Spiders," "Big Surprise," "Pickman's
Model," "Stop Killing Me," "You Can't Get Help Like That Anymore," and the
introduction to "Green Fingers."
